This article will help walk you through the steps necessary to configure a Wireless Network Connection in Windows XP.
Before you perform the following steps on third-party wireless adapters, ensure that:
1. The wireless switch and/or radio is turned on.
2. The third-party wireless adapter is working properly.
Before configuring your Wireless Connection, you must first determine whether your Windows XP is using Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2. There are two methods for determining your current Service pack:
Method 1
1. Right-click My Computer and select Properties. This will bring up the System Properties window.
2. The current system pack is listed on the General tab.
Method 2
1. Press the Windows "flag" button while pressing the Pause/Break button at the same time. This will bring up the System Properties window.
Note: The Windows "flag" button is usually located between the Ctrl and Alt buttons, in the bottom-left portion of the keyboard.
2. The current system pack is listed on the General tab. |
